Paraquat poisoning hotlines open in China

China has established two new telephone hotlines to help combat incidences of poisoning and death caused by the incorrect usage of the herbicide, paraquat, reports the Chinese newspaper, the AgriGoods Herald. The free 24-hour hotlines were set up by the China paraquat manufacturers’ product control and social responsibility work group. Gu Baogen, deputy director of the Ministry of Agriculture's Institute for Control of Agrochemicals, recently remarked that paraquat was the main means of suicide in China (see this issue).
