Brazil Ag Ministry issues agchem residue study results

Samples of five of 23 crops in Brazil had a complete clean bill of health in a Ministry of Agriculture pesticide residue study for 2010/11. The Ministry’s national residue in food of plant origin study for the period found that all samples of rice, coffee, kidney beans, potatoes and tomatoes presented either no residues at all, or were within maximum residue limits (MRLs). The monitoring study also found 99.1% of apple samples, some 97.6% of papayas and 96.2% of maize conformed to set standards, as did more than 90% of bananas, lemons, limes, mangos, melons and grape samples.
