Argentine Sursem/BASF deal on fungicide treated seed
Argentine seed company Sursem (Pergamino) is to market fungicide and inoculant treated soybeans in the country following a deal agreed with BASF and Argentine inoculent developer Nitragin (Pilar). The seed will include BASF’s fungicide, Acronis (pyraclostrobin + thiophanate-methyl) and a Nitragin inoculant. It is the only nationally approved treatment allowing a 90-day lead time prior to planting, Sursem says. The partner companies will treat the seed at units in Argentina. Sursem has recently agreed to market Monsanto’s genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant and insect-resistant Bt Roundup Ready 2 soybeans ( Agrow No 625, p 3).
