Over 80% of Chinese agchems meet standards
Some 84.2% of agrochemicals met inspection standards in the latest quality inspections of Chinese pesticide products carried out by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture, official sources report. The inspections involved 57 product samples from 37 companies across 16 of China's provinces. Of the product samples, 35 were insecticides, 19 fungicides and three herbicides. A total of 48 products met quality requirements, with 74.3% of the insecticides tested passing inspection. Of the nine products that failed the inspection, five were classified as “counterfeit pesticides”, while four were deemed to be of “poor quality”. In accordance with regulations, the Ministry will revoke the pesticide registrations of the companies found to be manufacturing counterfeit pesticides. These companies were: Dalian Yueda Pesticide and Chemicals; Shandong Dezhou Dacheng Agrochemical; Wuhan Chuqiang Biotechnology; and Shandong Yongwang Biotechnology. Chinese enforcement officers seized some 460 tonnes of fake pesticides across the country during the first half of the year ( Agrow No 624, p 17).
