US EPA spotlights NDETF activities
The US EPA has drawn the attention of pesticide registrants to the activities of the Non-Dietary Exposure Task Force (NDETF). The NDETF exists to develop exposure data for use in risk assessments on residential/consumer pesticides. The use of such data reduces reliance on conservative default assumptions, the EPA points out. The NDETF was formed in 1996 to generate data mainly for pyrethrin and pyrethroid insecticides. Some of the data was used in the recent cumulative risk assessment for pyrethrins and pyrethroids ( Agrow No 628, p 16). There are ten members of the NDTEF. Companies wanting to cite NDTEF data must be task force members or agree to pay for data compensation, the EPA notes.
