Argentina gives agchems for grape moth control

The Argentine authorities are delivering insecticides free of charge to grapevine growers for the second stage of obligatory aerial applications for the control of European grapevine moths ( Lobesia botrana). Those growers making their first applications will receive Dow AgroSciences’ insecticide, Intrepid (methoxyfenozide), so long as their land registered for agricultural use is no greater than 25 ha. Those who have received the first delivery (in September/October) will take delivery of Syngenta’s product, Voliam Flexi (DuPont’s chlorantraniliprole + thiamethoxam), as long as their registered land is no larger than 10 ha. The products will be delivered in December. Several Argentine departments are under quarantine to control the moths ( Agrow No 625, p 37).
