US court keeps Syngenta HQ in atrazine suit

A US court has ruled that the Swiss parent company of US subsidiary Syngenta Crop Protection Inc (SCPI) can be held liable to US jurisdiction in a case involving the alleged contamination of water supplies with the herbicide, atrazine. Twenty two public water companies from six Mid-West states are seeking to hold SCPI and Syngenta AG (SAG) liable for the cost of monitoring levels of atrazine and removing it from water supplies. SAG sought to dismiss the claims against it on jurisdictional grounds, maintaining that SCPI was the appropriate defendant.
