Dow to launch new herbicides in UK
Dow AgroSciences is to launch a new herbicide formulation for use on oilseed rape in the UK next year, as well as fully launch its wheat herbicide code named GF-2070 (pyroxsulam + DuPont’s flupyrsulfuron). The new oilseed rape herbicide does not contain the same ais as was previously reported. GF-2070’s brand name will be released next year. It is a pre-emergence water-dispersible granule formulation for the control of blackgrass ( Alopecurus myosuroides) and some broadleaf weeds. “Products based on pyroxsulam have proved a hit,” managing director for Dow’s UK business, Scott Boothey, says. They include Broadway Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam) and Broadway Sunrise (pyroxsulam + pendimethalin) in the UK. Pyroxsulam was introduced in the UK as Broadway Star in 2009 ( Agrow No 559, p 23). The ai was first approved in Chile in 2007 ( Agrow No 532, p 21).
