Bayer/Caprotec agree research deal
Bayer CropScience and German company Caprotec Bioanalytics (Berlin) have entered a research collaboration involving Caprotec’s capture compound mass spectrometry (CCMS) technology. The German company will use CCMS to profile the interactions of one of Bayer's undisclosed new active ingredients in the relevant biological system. "CCMS permits the direct isolation of the agrochemical-specific subset of proteins from a complex biological sample in an unbiased way,” says Caprotec chief executive officer Dr Hubert Koster. He says that the technology fills a crucial technological gap in the important field of functional proteomics. "We were impressed by the results of a CCMS pilot study, and are now looking forward to a continuation of our successful collaboration with Caprotec," says Bayer’s head of research, Dr Alexander Klausener.
