GMO testing guide issued by EU JRC
A new guide on EU legislation and testing methods for genetically modified organisms has been produced by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). The publication, “How to reliably test for GMOs”, was jointly authored by the JRC and Slovenia’s National Institute of Biology. The guide includes practical information for testing GMOs, such as the organisation of the laboratory, latest detection methods and their verification, as well as DNA extraction. It also looks at the challenges posed by GMOs derived from new technologies. More details are on the JRC website at: http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/jrc/index.cfm.
