France drafts rules for farmer certification
The French Ministry of Agriculture has drafted rules for the training of farmers under the government’s certification scheme, the Certiphyto, reports French newswire Agrisalon. From October 1st 2014, all farmers would be required to hold a certificate to purchase and use pesticides. Regulations about the criteria for obtaining certificates were published in October. The certificates would be valid for ten years and would need to be renewed after that. Earlier this month, further orders dealing with accreditation criteria were issued for the different benchmarks to be met by distribution companies, sales and application services, the newswire adds.
