New Zealand agchem residue levels low

The results of pesticide residue testing during the first quarter (May-July 2011) of the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s (MAF) annual Food Residue Surveillance Programme were “largely pleasing”, according to Programme manager Paul Dansted. The only violations of maximum residue limits (MRLs) were in six out of 23 tamarillo samples, which contained residues of the insecticide, deltamethrin, above the MRL. The residue levels did not pose any health risks, Mr Dansted points out.
