USDA deregulates MON87705 soybeans
The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has granted deregulated status to Monsanto’s altered content genetically modified soybean event, MON87705. The soybeans, which will be marketed under the Vistive Gold brand name, produce oil with increased levels of monounsaturated fat, especially oleic acid, and reduced levels of saturated fat, especially linolenic acid. MON87705 is also tolerant to the herbicide, glyphosate. Monsanto plans to stack the event with its second-generation glyphosate-tolerant and higher yielding Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield trait (MON89788).
