US food-use approval for metaflumizone
The EPA has proposed the first US food-use approval of BASF/Nihon Nohyaku’s insecticide, metaflumizone. It was first registered in 2007 as a pet flea product and as Siesta fire ant bait for use on turf and ornamentals ( Agrow No 536, p 15). The Agency plans to register Altrevin fire ant bait for use in citrus and nut orchards, grape vineyards and non-bearing stone and pome fruit orchards and nurseries. The decision is open to public comment until February 2nd.
