Monsanto gets more Mexican GM maize pilot approvals

Mexico has authorised pilot stage planting of two Monsanto genetically modified maize lines. They are for its: glyphosate-tolerant Roundup Ready 2 (NK603); and insect-resistant and glyphosate-tolerant Genuity VT Triple Pro (MON88017xMON89034) maize. The applications were made in September and follow only one other previous approval for pilot planting earlier in 2011. That was for Monsanto’s glyphosate-tolerant Roundup Ready maize ( Agrow No 612, p 19). Pilot planting is an intermediate stage between field trials and commercial planting in Mexico.
