US approval for TwinLink cotton
Bayer CropScience has received US EPA approval for its genetically modified insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant TwinLink cotton. It is the final regulatory step for the cotton in the US following USDA deregulation last year ( Agrow No 626, p 24). TwinLink cotton expresses the Bt Cry1Ab toxin from event T304-40 and the Cry2Ae toxin from event GHB119 for the control of lepidopteran pests such as bollworms ( Helicoverpa zea), tobacco budworms ( Heliothis virescens) and fall armyworms ( Spodoptera frugiperda). It is also tolerant to the herbicide, glufosinate-ammonium.
