Glyphosate-resistant kochia in Nebraska
Researchers at the US University of Nebraska (Lincoln) have confirmed the presence of glyphosate-resistant kochia ( Kochia scoparia) in the state. Field reports in 2011 indicated that there might be many kochia populations in western Nebraska that are resistant to the herbicide, the researchers state. Glyphosate-resistant kochia was first reported in the US in Kansas in 2009 and has become a serious problem in the west of the state, they add. Kochia is one of 12 weed species that have developed resistance to glyphosate in the US, the scientists point out.
