US EPA plans registration review meetings
The US EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs plans to consult registrants and other stakeholders early in the registration review process. The move is aimed at improving label clarity and reducing regulatory burdens on industry by refining data requirements. The OPP plans to bring so-called “SMART meetings” into the process within the next 12 months. These meetings were employed during the tolerance reassessment and re-registration era to ensure the EPA was using accurate application rates in its risk assessments.
