Bayer to open two bee care centres
Bayer CropScience is launching its Bee Care programme to promote the health of bees. It is opening two centres, the first in Monheim, Germany this summer, and the second later this year in North Carolina, US. The centre in Monheim will have a full-time team of specialists, including two experienced beekeepers. It will bring together beekeepers, farmers, research institutions, educational professionals and others concerned with the health and welfare of bees, Bayer says. The programme “will bring Bayer’s extensive experience and knowledge in bee health under one roof and ensure that dedicated resources are available”, Bayer board of management member responsible for innovation Professor Dr Wolfgang Plischke says.
