USDA extends comment on Dow's Enlist maize
The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is to allow more time for public comment on its proposed deregulation of Dow AgroSciences’ genetically modified herbicide-tolerant Enlist maize (DAS-40278-9). The maize is tolerant to the phenoxy herbicide, 2,4-D, and aryloxyphenoxy propionate inhibitor graminicides. The APHIS proposed deregulation in December 2011, allowing public comment on a plant pest risk assessment and a draft environmental assessment until February 27th ( Agrow No 631, p 12). That has been extended by 60 days until April 27th.
