US to OK Plant Impact's BugOil

The US EPA proposes to register UK company Plant Impact’s (Preston, Lancashire) tagetes oil-based insecticide/acaricide, BugOil. Tagetes oil is a new active ingredient derived from Mexican marigolds ( Tagetes minuta). It controls mites, whiteflies, aphids, thrips, mealybugs, scales and psyllids on a range of crops. The EPA proposes approval for two identical products, one for use on indoor and outdoor ornamentals, and the other for use on all food crops. Both contain canola oil, thyme oil and wintergreen oil as already-approved ais. Arysta LifeScience has a global licence to BugOil from Plant Impact ( Agrow No 569, p 3). The approval decision is open to public comment until March 21st.
