FMC gains rights to new ai from China
FMC has obtained an exclusive licence to develop and commercialise a new insecticide active ingredient from China. The deal with East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and Shanghai Shengnong Pesticide Co (SSPC) covers all markets outside China. The new ai was invented at ECUST and licensed by SSPC. The FMC deal provides for further collaboration on new pesticide research, the company points out. “Combining the research strength of ECUST, the China manufacturing leadership of SSPC and FMC’s deep product development and marketing expertise is an incredibly strong formula for success,” says FMC agricultural products group president Milton Steele. FMC has been developing new products in collaboration with third parties since it pulled out of new ai discovery research in 2006 ( Agrow No 499, p 1).
