The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has approved the marketing and use of the biofungicide, Tricovarb. It is for the control of witches’ broom disease ( Moniliophtora perniciosa) on cocoa. The government agency, cocoa farming plan’s executive commission, the Ceplac, developed the biofungicide. Tricovarb is obtained from the laboratory fermentation of the fungus, Trichoderma stromaticum.
