Teagasc seeks GM blight-resistant potato trials in Ireland

The Irish agriculture and food development authority, the Teagasc, has applied to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for permission to conduct field trials of genetically modified potatoes resistant to late blight ( Phytophthora infestans). The trials are intended to assess the environmental impacts of the potatoes. If approved, they will take place at the Teagasc crop research centre in Oak Park, Carlow over the next four years.
