Syngenta debuts Nemathorin EC in Italy
Syngenta has launched the organophosphate nematicide, Nemathorin 150 EC (Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha’s fosthiazate), in Italy. The emulsion concentrate is a “more convenient liquid formulation” for spraying and provides improved efficacy over the established granular formulation, the company says. It is for the control of root-knot nematodes on greenhouse tomatoes and aubergines. Nemathorin is a substitute for the removed fumigant, methyl bromide, and 1,3- dichloropropene, and can be used as part of an IPM system, the company notes. Syngenta legacy company Zeneca acquired distribution rights to fosthiazate in countries outside the Asia-Oceania region in January 1998 ( Agrow No 295, p 1).
