US minor-crop groups rally to IR-4

  • News

US specialty crop groups have launched a campaign to oppose government plans to remove direct funding for the minor-use pesticide IR-4 Project. The USDA’s fiscal 2013 budget proposal to consolidate funding for IR-4 with various IPM programmes in a new “Crop Protection” programme threatens the elimination of IR-4, the groups maintain. They have set up a “Save the IR-4 Project” website listing minor-crop growers’ associations opposed to the funding move.
