BASF debuts three agchems in Spain
BASF has recently launched three pesticide products based on established active ingredients in Spain. Fungicide Cabrio Team (dimethomorph + pyraclostrobin) is for use on cucurbits, fruiting vegetables and potatoes against mildews. The combination is already marketed in Japan at different concentrations as Casting, and has undergone field trials in the US. Herbicide Stomp (pendimethalin) is for use on maize and potatoes as a pre-emergence or early post-emergence application against a variety of broadleaf weeds and grasses. Insecticide Alverde (metaflumizone 24%) was granted exceptional use authorisation in Spain three years ago ( Agrow No 581, p 23). It is for outdoor and greenhouse use on tomatoes for the control of leaf miners ( Tuta absoluta). Metaflumizone was discovered by Nihon Nohyaku and is being co-developed globally with BASF ( Agrow No 566, p 23).
