Argentine agchem market jumps to $1.8 billion
The Argentine agrochemical market grew by 20% last year, according to a report from the national agrochemical industry association, Casafe. It notes that the market in US dollars was worth some $1,800 million. Sales for newer and more environmentally friendly products led growth. That would follow a similar rise in 2010, and would show that the market has regained the losses it suffered in 2009 ( Agrow No 571, pp 18-19). There is as yet no breakdown of sales. The association advanced an information campaign in the last months of 2011 aimed at the general public highlighting the scientific advances of the industry and its role in meeting sustainability challenges ahead.
