Indian states ambivalent over GM crop trials

Five Indian states have decided to prohibit field trials of genetically modified crops. They are: Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Karnataka. India’s Environment Minister has informed the Parliament that only three states, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan, allow trials, and of these, Rajasthan has decided to withdraw its consent given to the University of Delhi for second-season trials on GM mustard.
