SDS Biotech/Gowan extend benzobicyclon deal to EU
Japanese company SDS Biotech (Tokyo) and US agrochemical company Gowan (Yuma, Arizona) have extended their exclusive evaluation agreement for SDS’ rice herbicide, benzobicyclon, to include key rice-growing areas in the EU. Gowan has initiated an extensive development and registration programme for rice growers throughout southern parts of the EU. In April 2011, the two companies agreed a similar deal for the US and Gowan started the registration process and initiated an extensive development programme ( Agrow No 615, p 2). Benzobicyclon is one of the largest-selling rice herbicides in Asia and will be introduced into the California rice market in the near future, SDS says.
