Bayer debuts Oberon in Italy

Bayer CropScience has debuted its insecticide/acaricide, Oberon (spiromesifen 240 g/litre) in Italy. Oberon is a suspension concentrate formulation for use on ornamentals and horticultural crops, including aubergines, courgettes, cucumbers , green beans, peppers, strawberries and tomatoes at 0.45-0.9 litre/ha. It is for the control of whiteflies ( Bemisia tabaci and Trialeurodes vaporariorum), and red spider mites ( Tetranychus spp). Bayer recommends a foliar application. Registration was granted in February. Oberon has a selective action that is safe for bees, and ideal for IPM and anti-resistance programmes, the company says. Spiromesifen was first approved in 2004 in the UK and Indonesia ( Agrow No 440, p 20).
