German MRL violations fall further in 2010

Pesticide maximum residue limit (MRL) violations in food tested in Germany in 2010 were found in 2.7% of the samples, reveal figures collected by the federal office for consumer protection and food safety, the BVL. That was a slight dip from the level of 2.9% in 2009 ( Agrow No 616, p 15). Samples with residues below MRLs were down to 55.9% compared with 57.2% in 2008. The ratio of samples with no measurable residues went up from 39.9% to 41.4%.
