Thiram and diuron earmarked for REACH evaluation

The fungicide, thiram, and the herbicide, diuron, have been included in the first group of chemical substances to go through the evaluation stage of the EU Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation. A total of 90 substances are listed in the first Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) for evaluation between 2012 and 2014. They have been chosen on the basis of a “suspicion” that they could pose a risk to human health or the environment, but the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) stresses that the initial grounds for concern are just “indicative” and neither exhaustive nor conclusive.
