Uruguay to OK two Bayer GM soybean lines

The Uruguayan biosafety authorities have recommended the commercial approval of two genetically modified herbicide-tolerant soybean lines for commercial planting and use in food and feed. The national biosafety cabinet, the GNB, recommends authorisation for Bayer CropScience’s glufosinate-tolerant LibertyLink soybean events, A2704-12 (LL27) and A5547-127 (LL55). They are similar events. A5547-127differs from A2704-12 in that the gene is inserted at a different location in the genome, providing another option for incorporating the LibertyLink trait into stacked varieties. It is the preferred soybean event in stacked products, Bayer told Agrow.
