Ghana enacts Biosafety Bill
The Ghanaian Parliament has recently enacted the country’s Biosafety Bill, the Ghana news agency reports. The Parliament voted for the Bill in August last year ( Agrow No 622, p 26), for which presidential assent has since been granted. That made it a “complete law”, the government says. Biosafety Act 831 2011 sets a requirement for a national biosafety authority to be set up and will enable Ghana to allow food crop production involving genetically modified organisms, it adds.
