Syngenta settles US label violations
Syngenta has agreed to pay a $102,000 civil penalty to settle several US pesticide labelling violations. They include 16 imported shipments of the fungicide, azoxystrobin, between March 4th and April 5th 2011, at the company’s facility in Omaha, Nebraska. The bags of azoxystrobin technical did not carry an accepted EPA label, the Agency points out. An inspection at the distributor, Duncan Agri-Service (Savannah, Missouri), in August 2011 found a Syngenta-owned bulk tank of the herbicide, Lumax (mesotrione + S-metolachlor + atrazine), which was missing a warning statement about the required use of personal protective equipment.
