US EUP for Valent's etoxazole on maize

The US EPA has granted Sumitomo Chemical’s US subsidiary, Valent USA Corporation (Walnut Creek, California), an experimental use permit (EUP) to test the acaricide, etoxazole, on maize. The EUP applies to 20,000 acres (8,094 ha) of the crop in California. It is effective until March 14th 2013. Valent introduced the acaricide in the US, as Zeal, for use on cotton, pome fruit and strawberries in 2004 ( Agrow No 438, p 21). The company has since received several use extensions.
