China to implement strict paraquat controls - correction

China is still to consider further approvals of paraquat active ingredient production and for formulation and processing plants, rather than ending all such authorisations as was previously reported by Agrow online. However, no new approvals are to be granted for paraquat “mother liquid” (ai plus additives) production or for aqueous formulations and processing plants. Furthermore, the ending of approvals for paraquat field trial applications, as well as pesticide registrations and product licences is also only for aqueous and other liquid formulations, unlike previously reported. Paraquat is China's third-largest herbicide in terms of annual production volumes, behind glyphosate and atrazine ( Agrow No 634, p 17).
