Two Shandong-based agchem firms merge
A merger between two agrochemical producers in the Chinese northern province of Shandong has been finalised, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reports. Tai'an Lianhe Biochemical Science and Technology, with a registered capital of Yuan 12.6 million ($2 million at the current rate), will be amalgamated into Shandong United Pesticide Industry, which has a registered capital of Yuan 10.1 million ($1.6 million) and whose name will not change. The legal representative of the new amalgamated company will be Qiao Laicheng, of Tai'an Lianhe Biochemical. Both companies were manufacturers of pesticide active ingredients. This amalgamation is the second such agrochemical company merger for which details have been issued by the MIIT in 2012. Shandong province accounted for some 20% of China's national agrochemical production in the first 11 months of 2011 ( Agrow No 632, p 16).
