EU Ag Ministers make CAP "greening" more flexible
Plans to set minimum EU requirements on crop diversification should be changed to introduce greater flexibility for member states, say EU Agriculture Ministers. At their meeting in May, the Ministers put forward amendments to the European Commission’s controversial “greening” measures, which are part of a planned reform of the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Among the suggestions are to increase the number of smaller farms that would be exempt, and to apply regional, rather than farm, targets for taking land out of production.
