SDS Biotech sales slide in Q1
Japanese agrochemical company SDS Biotech recorded a 12.1% drop in sales to ¥2,587 million ($33 million at the current rate) in the first quarter of 2012, compared with the same period in 2011. Operating income fell by 38.1% to ¥246 million ($3 million). Rice herbicide sales decreased by 14% to ¥1,161 million ($15 million), due to lower sales of benzobicyclon technical and formulations. In the fungicide sector, price competition with generic daconil-based products in overseas markets led to an overall fall of 12.8% to ¥929 million ($12 million).
