Brazil agchem industry leads complaints on Anvisa proposal
The Brazilian agrochemical industry association, the Andef’s, Eduardo Daher has raised complaints of bias against industry by the national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa. He delivered the rebuke while complaining that the Anvisa’s, proposal CP 02/2011 to “bring toxicological evaluations up to date” continues to try to move risk analysis away from scientific rigour. “All sectors regulated by the agency echo the same complaints: a failure to meet deadlines; arrogance towards those it regulates; and an ideological bias”, Mr Daher said. “The industry craves advanced legislation based on scientific criteria,” the Andef executive director added. He was speaking at the latest monthly meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture’s CTIA, a forum of competent authorities and industry representatives.
