Brazil Anvisa agchem reassessments delayed
The national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa’s, technical assessment committee (CTA) “understands” that deadlines for the ongoing pesticide active ingredient reassessment programme are “being extended”. No date has been given. The news came in minutes from the CTA’s third meeting of the year in April. The CTA is a forum of the country’s pesticide registration competent authorities. The Anvisa’s reassessment programme covers 14 ais. It recommended bans on two at the start of the year, for the insecticide/acaricides, parathion-methyl and phorate ( Agrow No 633, p 16), which brought the number of completed reassessments to seven with another under public consultation.
