EU prov approvals to be extended for seven ais
Existing national provisional approvals for seven new active ingredients in the EU will be extended following clearance from the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health. The seven ais are: Bayer CropScience’s fungicides, bixafen and fluopyram, and insecticide, spirotetramat; Bionext’s biofungicide, Candida oleophila strain O; Nissan Chemical’s herbicide, halosulfuron; and Koppert’s fungicides, potassium iodide and potassium thiocyanate. The extensions for the three-year approvals were proposed by the European Commission to allow more time for the EU registration process to be completed. The applications for the ais were originally submitted between 2004 and 2008. This is the second time that extensions have been granted to spirotetramat, C oleophila strain O, potassium iodide and potassium thiocyanate.
