Italy approves Exosect pheromone
UK pest control company Exosect (Winchester, Hampshire) has been granted approval for its pheromone product, Exosex OFM. It works as a mating disruption technology for the control of Oriental fruit moths ( Grapholita molesta) on pome and stone fruit, and is recommended as part of an IPM system. Exosex OFM employs the company’s patented pheromone delivery system, Entostat. Exosect plans to debut the product next year. The company has other such products for use on fruit in several European markets, including Exosex CM, which gained Italian approval for use on pome fruit against codling moths ( Cydia pomonella) in 2009 ( Agrow No 562, p 19), while tablet form Exosex YSBTab is used in India against yellow stem borers ( Scirpophaga incertulas) in rice.
