France revokes Cruiser OSR approval

The French Minister of Agriculture, Stéphane Le Foll, has withdrawn the approval for Syngenta’s seed treatment, Cruiser OSR (thiamethoxam 280 g/litre + fludioxonil 8 g/litre + metalaxyl-M 32.3 g/litre). In March, the Ministry launched a reassessment of its authorisation and asked the national agency for health security, the Anses, to provide an opinion ( Agrow No 637, p 11). The action was initiated in light of a study released by the journal, Science, that modelled the effects of the behaviour of foraging bees under low-dose laboratory administration of thiamethoxam ( Agrow No 637, p 22).
