Australia to OK BASF's ametoctradin
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority has proposed the approval of BASF’s fungicide, ametoctradin (trade-marked as Initium), as a new active ingredient in the combination product, Zampro (ametoctradin + dimethomorph). The fungicide is aimed at the control of downy mildew ( Plasmopara viticola) on grapevines. BASF received its first approvals for ametoctradin in the EU and South America in 2010 ( Agrow No 601, p 36). The US EPA proposed the authorisation of the active ingredient in March ( Agrow No 637, p 20). The Australian approval decision is open to public comment until July 31st.
