Australian trifluralin batch under scrutiny

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is investigating reports that a particular batch of the herbicide, trifluralin, is making farmers in Western Australia “ill or nauseous”. The Authority has received several reports since March and was also alerted to concerns over the herbicide by the Australian Farmers’ Federation in late June. “We have made extensive enquiries regarding allegations that the problem batch was unregistered, discoloured and odorous,” says the APVMA’s compliance manager, Dr Jan Klaver.
