EU to extend approval times for 40 ais
The European Commission is to extend the ten-year approvals for 40 of the next batch of active ingredients to go through the renewal programme for EU registrations. Proposed extensions of around two to three years were voted through by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCFCAH) in June. The third renewal programme, named AIR-3, will cover 150 ais whose approvals expire in the period 2013-2018 ( Agrow No 640, pp 6-7). The Commission had already acknowledged that some expiry dates would have to be extended to allow time for the evaluation to be completed.
