EU prov approvals extended for seven new ais
The European Commission has permitted EU member states to extend existing three-year provisional approvals for seven new active ingredients until July 31st 2014. The ais are: Bayer CropScience’s fungicides, bixafen and fluopyram, and insecticide, spirotetramat; Bionext’s biofungicides, Candida oleophila strain O; Nissan Chemical’s herbicide, halosulfuron; and Koppert’s fungicides, potassium iodide and potassium thiocyanate. More time is needed to complete the EU evaluation ( Agrow No 643, p 7). Bixafen is approved in 12 member states, fluopyram in Romania and the UK, spirotetramat in 11 member states, C oleophila strain O in France and the UK, halosulfuron in Greece and Italy, and potassium iodide and potassium thiocyanate in Belgium and the Netherlands.
